Top-notch Optics
I was on a trip exploring the rainforests in Brazil recently and my guide was using a Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binocular. Of course, I had to request him to let me use it for a couple of hours. I was very impressed and I must say, they are top-notch.
The optics are excellent, providing clear and crisp images that make it a pleasure to use. The 10x magnification is just right and the 42mm optical lens let me see birds and small animals even in the low light rainforest conditions. It is certainly on my bucket list now!
However, one thing to note is that these binoculars are on the heavier side. They weigh almost 26 oz. While this doesn’t pose a problem when using it on a tripod, it can be a bit challenging to hold steady for extended periods of time.
If and when I get one of the Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binoculars I will make sure to get a tripod too!
Wish they Came with a Decent Case
The only criticism I have is that I wish the Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binoculars came with a good case. Considering the price point, I expected a premium case to be included. Instead, they provide a bag, which doesn’t offer the same level of protection and convenience as a proper case would. It’s a small oversight, but still worth mentioning.
Exceptional All Weather Performance
That being said, the performance of the Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binoculars is phenomenal, irrespective of the weather conditions. As I live in New Jersey and am often traveling to countries in South America and Africa, I encounter all kinds of weather conditions.
The Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binoculars are built to be waterproof and fog-proof so I would not have to worry at all about their performance. I am sure the magnesium body will stand up to some degree of rough handling as well.
Bottom Line
The bottom line is that the Maven B1.2 10×42 ED Binoculars are sure to be an excellent purchase if you are looking for top-notch optics and ease of use. While they may be on the heavier side and lack a high-quality case, their performance in all weather conditions and the exceptional clarity of the images make them stand out. If you don’t mind the weight and the price, these binoculars are definitely worth considering.
